The Peddler Bike Shop was established in 1971 by Dan Lamontagne after he graduated from Christion Brothers College. He was riding the wave of Eddy Merckz who was winning a lot of races at the time. Dan started his business with a bunch of Raleigh bicycles brought down from Chicopee Mass. from his uncles shop. The VW Microbus broke down three times on the way from MA to the original 3573 Southern Avenue location. John McCombs came to the Peddler in 1985 and managed the Raleigh store before opening the Germantown location in 1986. Hal Mabray came to the Peddler in 1986 and soon became manager of the Southern Ave location.
